TRAINING CAMP!!
It’s that time again!  Tomorrow 41 young adults will be arriving into Atlanta, each carrying a very large bag and expectations even larger!  We’ll get to spend a few days with them training and equipping them for this next journey, then on Wednesday, Jan 19th they’ll launch out to the nations.  Over the next four months they will travel to five
different countries to bring Kingdom and we are so excited to see what
happens while they are out on the field.

At
Real Life, we are asking participants to try to blog every week. This
can be about the difficulty of living on the field, community, ministry,
the adventure, or anything related to their time on the field. Granted,
internet time can be hard and it is not always available, but we stress
to the teams the importance of why blogging is beneficial. For one,
families love to hear from their kids, grandchildren, nephews, nieces,
etc. Supporters love to know how their monetary donations have been put
to use. When you are out on the field, it is exciting to check the
following week, how many people have viewed your post and how many
comments you have. There is a validation it. Sadly, some participants do
not have many comments, while others, family does not even bother to
read their posts.

The Problem
You
see, some participants do not have the most supportive family nor the
largest support base. Some kids get a single comment on their post from
AIM or Real Life staff because, well we follow all the blogs. That
is nice and dandy, yet there is something about a non-AIM affiliated
person leaving you comments and encouragement. Think of it like Christmas
morning for these participants. There is an anticipation for who is
reading what they write and who has left a comment on it.

The Proposal
So
here is my proposal to my supporters and avid blog followers. I will be
following all five team blogs, reading and commenting on them. I am
asking you to pick a team. You can make a random selection or you can
prayerfully consider one. After you have found your team, I am asking
you to pledge support to this team. Since Real Life participants have to
be fully support-raised before they launch, you do not have to
financially support them. When you pledge to a team, I am asking that
you pray for them on a weekly basis and that you follow their blog. And
when you follow their blog, I mean you read each post and you make a
comment on everyone that you can.

The Reasoning
The
reasoning behind this is support. We believe that there is value to
investing into each and everyone of these young adults. Your prayers and
support in the form of following blogs, will add value to the teams you
follow. Regardless of the difference in situations you may find
yourself in, there is always something to relate to that’s found in stories you
post. And really, you can never have too much encouragement.

The Teams

 Nicaragua

 India (Andhra Pradesh)

Southeast Asia

Kenya

Uganda

We
(all of us at Real Life and Adventures in Missions) would like to say
thank you for your support. Each of these participants will grow during
this season, and your kind words and prayers will truly help that
process.

*Stay tuned: This week I’ll post pictures of these teams so you can know who you’re praying for and whose blogs you’re reading…and to see their smiling faces!  🙂
