I have some exciting news for you about little Logan! You guessed it…he went home last week!! Logan now has the undivided attention of loving parents! They are a Canadian couple who are missionaries living here in Nairobi working with a missions organization called “Doctors Without Borders.” The coolest part of this whole story, besides the fact that Logan got adopted, is the fact that I got to meet and hang out with his new parents. It was perfect timing and I thank God for allowing us to meet that day at New Life Home. It was day 2 of Mom and Dad’s visit and we decided to spend the afternoon at New Life Home. Upon arrival, I was informed by my friend Emily who works there, that Logan was going “home” in a few days. About that time, Logan’s new parents walked through the door. For the next 2 hours we got to visit and get acquainted as we played with the kids together. I was thrilled to meet his new parents and find out that they live in Nairobi. We were able to exchange contact information to keep in touch. I’m in the process of compiling a file of Logan’s baby pictures for them. I’ve known this little guy since last January and can help fill in for the year and a half they missed. I look forward to receiving pictures and stories of how he is thriving in his new family.
It was “swim day” for the toddlers and the excitement in the air could be felt upon arrival. One by one, each toddler emerged from the changing room decked out in their cute swimwear and ran outside to the pool. They didn’t care that there were 15 toddlers in a small pool with less than a foot of water, they were having a blast! Giggles and sounds of splashing water filled the air as the kids enjoyed this hot afternoon.
I had a great time playing with Logan at New Life Home one last time. He was as cute as ever and has now perfected the word “bye” accompanied by blowing kisses! I didn’t want to put him down as he snuggled up in my arms after a tiring afternoon in the pool. But I knew I had to go. The goodbye wasn’t near as hard as it could have been, for I feel confident that I’ll see him here again soon. I left with an excitement for little Logan that I can’t explain. Questions like “what will he be when he grows up?” and “what will he experience in his life?” swim through my head as I kiss him goodbye.
I’ll make sure to keep you posted as I get updates on Logan. Thank you for all your prayers for him during this past year. If he only knew how many people cared and loved for him that he doesn’t even know!
