Hello family and friends!  I hope yall are having a great Wednesday.  I thought it was about time to catch you up on happenings in my world as of late.

I’m simply loving life here.  God has surrounded me with a great community of co-workers and it’s a fun time to be at AIM.  Fall is beautiful here in North Georgia.  We are taking advantage of the many fun Fall endeavors such as Pumpkin Patches, Apple Festivals, Fall festivals, Corn Mazes, and Oktoberfest.  We are still anxiously awaiting the fall foliage to peak in all its colors, but due to the drought, it’s delayed a bit this year.

I’m being stretched as I take on new job responsibilities.  There is a team of 4 of us that make up the “new staff trainers team” (for lack of a better name).  We’re now evaluating our last training and planning for the next one which will happen in April.  I am also attempting to keep in touch with our field staff and supporting them as best as I can.  We are trying to make sure they have what they need to do their jobs.  In the midst of all this, I’m continuing to adapt to living and working in the US.  I didn’t realize how adjusted I had become to the Kenya way of life.  God continues to teach me lessons that He taught me throughout the years I spent in Kenya.  I am enjoying this new season of my life.

The biggest news for this little update is that I’m preparing to make a quick trip to Kenya soon!  There will be 3 of us going and we’ll be on the ground in Kenya for 10 days.  We will be departing October 20th and returning on November 1st.  Since we currently do not have any field staff there, our schedule will be pretty full taking care of several agenda items.  But we will also have sufficient time to touch basis with friends there.

I’d like to include some of the items we’ll be doing so you can know how to best pray for us.

  • Evaluating what’s going on with our orphanage and our school.
  • Meeting with key ministry partners to do some set-up work for the team arriving there in mid-January.
  • Meeting with our ex-landlord and settling out some financial matters with him.  Please pray for wisdom and clear communication concerning this matter.
  • Meeting with the administrators and teachers at our school to make sure all is running smoothly and that their needs are met.
  • Evaluating the current living situation for the teams
  • One of my specific roles will be to simply spend time with the kids at our orphanage, investing in them, spoiling them a bit, and just loving on them.  This will give us a chance to “check the pulse” there and see how things are going.  We’ve got a new house Mom there at the AIM home, so I’m looking forward to spending time with her and seeing how I can minister to her during our short trip.
  • Evaluate the safety issue with the upcoming Presidential elections in December.

I’m very excited to get back to Kenya, even if it is just a short trip.  I’m looking forward to spending quality time with the many close friends I have there.  Thank you for your prayer covering during this time.  The Lord has blessed me tremendously through all of you and I greatly appreciate your support, both prayer and financial.

I hope you all are doing well.  I look forward to hearing from you soon and catching up with things in your world.  Drop me an email when you get a chance.
Love,
Kayla
