I mentioned in an earlier blog that a month ago I had finished reading a book titled Primal by Mark Batterson. Well, I'm just now getting back to it to digest some of what I gained by reading this book. I'd thought I'd share some of the things bouncing around in my head these days.

Today's question in my head: what does a generous heart look like?

How do I have a generous heart no matter what I have or don't have? I'd naturally think it would be easier to be generous if I had a lot of resources in which to give. I've had this thought before, as I'm sure you have as well, "man, if only I had an endless supply of resources, I could do so much!" But what if it's not about what I have or don't have? What if it's not about possessions at all? What if generosity has to do more with a condition of my heart than a choice I make to give or not to give? If it's a condition of my heart, then it's not always going to make logical sense, I suppose.

Have you ever been around someone that just has a generous heart? You know those people that just find ways to love others around them, whether they give their time and serve someone or help meet an immediate need. Perhaps they just take time to encourage and speak life into someone. There's something contagious about surrounding yourself with people that have a generous heart.

Here's another quote that I love from this book:

"You'll never have enough.

You'll never be enough.

You'll never do enough.

But don't let that keep you from giving what you have, being who you are, and doing what you can."

I want to daily find myself in a place where I'm stretched by God to grow in generosity. I serve a very generous God, and he made me in His likeness! That only leads to one conclusion....I'm being daily transformed to be more generous in ALL areas of my life.
