Thursday we spent all day traveling around Swaziland
checking out the various ministries AIM is involved in here. We left home at 9am and didn’t get home until
8pm…it feels like we toured all of Swaziland! It was a great day though. We got to see 4 of the 19 care points we have
here. At each place we all got out and
played with the kids as we learned about the place. We also got to meet the Gogos, the grandmothers
who volunteer their time to run the care points.  They are so sweet!

I got my Siswati name yesterday from one of the Gogos at the 2nd
care point we visited, one of our least developed care points. Gogo Grace spoke very little English, but she
could understand some. The Lord laid it
on my heart to encourage her while we were there. So while I held this little girl that feel
asleep in my arms, I just told Gogo Grace how much the Father loved her and
that He sees what she’s doing and how she loves and serves these kids, and that
He’s pleased with her.  I showed her in
the Word His promise to never leave or forsake her. She cried as I spoke truth over her and
prayed for her spirit to be refreshed. Before I left she called me over to her and said, you will be called
“Khatsiwe.” In Siswati, Khatsiwe means
“highly favored of the Lord; chosen one.” It was a sweet time and I just fell in love with this little Gogo.

All day yesterday the Lord allowed me to simply love on His children and pray
over them as I held them. At the first 3
care points, each kid I picked up fell asleep in my arms during the first 10
minutes of me holding them. All around
was chaos as our huge team ran around playing and singing with the kids and
somehow each kid I picked up collapsed into my arms and just slept peacefully
the whole time.

It was great for us to see what God is doing here. We are privileged to get to be a part of
it.

  2. Another new name….another “I AM” statement. What a word for you and what a timely word for this season. You truly are favored and chosen. Love to you my red-headed African friend.

  3. How absolutely precious! But you know…it’s what we who have loved you long, knew from the genesis of your ministry.
We keep you in our prayers and hearts.

  4. What a wonderful way for the Lord to use you to minister to these little ones as they slept. I am always curious when God does things like that just what He is doing in that little ones life and spirit. Something deep, I believe. Your ministry of encouragement is so important for those on the front lines. Gogo is a good name for grandmother!
    Love you lots,
    Benna

  5. Hi Kayla,

Wow, you really are a modern day biblical character. What a cool name, if I can figure out to say it I will call you Khatsiwe for now on.

    See ya,
